Lean Manufacturing Presentation

Lean Manufacturing presentation is the application of waste reduction concepts to a manufacturing process. This relentless waste reduction ensures that delivery times of the product is decreased which in turn increases the product delivery efficiency further satisfying the customer. Imagine, if you had been given the responsibility of reengineering the manufacturing process in your company and you had to make a presentation to your immediate line manager on what you intend to do. A Lean Manufacturing presentation would need to be structured and presented slightly differently that normal Power-point presentations.

What are the contents of a good Lean Manufacturing Presentation?

A lean manufacturing presentation could be a pre-process initiative presentation or it could also be presenting a case study. Whatever be the case, the contents for a good Lean Manufacturing presentation would need to be standardized and here they are:

Change Methodologies - This slide would need to introduce the reader to various lean methodologies which have been/will be used in the manufacturing process. The presenter may introduce concepts like Continuous Process Improvement, Process Mapping, Value Stream Mapping in this slide.

Problem Statement - This slide should identify the issues of the manufacturing process which is aimed at being fixed by implementing Lean techniques. Ideally, slide 1 discussed above and this one can be interchanged depending on the presenter's convenience.

Interim Slides - The next 4-5 slides can talk about possible inputs taken by visits to various facilities or inferences. All these should lead on to a slide which defines what is lean manufacturing and how would lean manufacturing be implemented in the case of the company.

Goal Statement - The goals of the company's manufacturing processes must be identified in this slide. I would recommend that presenter's can categorize their company's goals in these categories - Throughput, Inventory and Operational Expense.

Lean Challenge - This slide must refer to the challenge for the company before implementing the lean program. Ideally, this slide must identify the gap between the goal of the company and the current state of the process. Identified by a metric, the Lean Challenge presents the company with the picture on what is being intended to achieve of a Lean Process.

Lean Project Slides - The next 6-7 slides can refer to the project specifics. If it is a case study being presented on a just completed Lean project, presenter's may talk of goals being achieved or measures taken during the course of action. No Lean Manufacturing presentation is complete without referring to what needs to be done to sustain the level of improvement.

A Lean Manufacturing presentation is more than a normal presentation. It will be your presentation to the company indicating how efficiently you have executed or planned for the project. In all probabilities, you may expect to do a Lean project or may even get a pay rise after the presentation.
